A NIC10
satellite workshop on
"Experiments at the new reaccelerated beam facility at NSCL"
will be held all day Saturday, August 2, 2008 at the National Superconducting Cyclotron
Laboratory at Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. This is the
Saturday immediately after NIC10. Free transportation will be provided from the
NIC10 venue to East Lansing at the conclusion of the NIC10 meeting on Friday, August 1;
and we will help arrange inexpensive transportation from East Lansing to Detroit Metro
Airport for interested participants on Sunday, August 3. The NSCL reaccelerated beam facility will
provide high quality rare isotope beams at energies of 0.3 - 3 MeV/u. The
beams are produced by fragmentation, followed by stopping in a gas filled
device, and then reaccelerated in a RFQ superconducting LINAC combination.
The facility will provide a very broad range of beams - all beams that can be
produced with sufficient intensity by fragmentation can also be accelerated
in this facility. First beam is expected in 2010. The goals of the workshop are to: The workshop is open to all interested
scientists, and there is no registration fee for attending it. To register
on-line for the workshop, please fill out and submit the registration. Housing information is posted at accommodations. If you have any questions,
please contact Raman Anantaraman. The workshop is being organized by: |
