Scientific Justification

An Advanced ISOL Research Facility is an element in the Long Range Plan adopted by NSAC in 1996.

The potential scientific rewards of such a facility are described in the white paper, "Scientific Opportunities with an Advanced ISOL Facility." (Nov. 1997) (5 MB pdf)

White Paper from the Notre Dame Town Meeting on Opportunities in Nuclear Astrophysics: White Paper - Opportunities in Nuclear Astrophysics (June 1999)

The opportunities for physics with fast beams are described in the white paper, "Scientific Opportunities with Fast Fragmentation Beams from RIA." (March 2000)
