This year's NSCL User Workshop will be
held in East Lansing on June 2, 2008. It will immediately precede the Nuclear Structure 2008
conference (June 3-6), for the convenience of participants wishing to attend
both meetings. Because of exciting future developments at NSCL and the
opportunity to present past physics results at NS2008 immediately following, the User Workshop
will focus on planning for these two future opportunities: User responses to the following questions prior to the
workshop will be useful for achieving the second goal. NSCL expects to have reaccelerated
beams of nuclei over a wide mass range with energies up to 3 MeV/nucleon by 2010. Please let us know: You are requested to send your responses to raman@nscl.msu.edu no later than May 15.
By analyzing them, a number of alternatives on how best to meet user needs will be developed
and presented at the workshop. There will also be ample time allotted in the program for users
to present their needs in person. By identifying groups that have similar needs and interests
and facilitating their writing joint proposals for equipment funding, we can have a more
productive meeting. The Users' Executive Committee solicits
your suggestions for making the workshop scientifically more productive for
NSCL users. Please send your comments to the Chair of the Committee, Sam Tabor. To register on-line
for the Workshop, please fill out and submit the registration.
Housing information is posted at accommodations.
